《BLUE PEACOCK》

Summary 

In July 2033, an elderly ascetic returned to his hometown after a difficult journey and came to the next village, QiuJia Village, found the grave of Dajun Qiu, and chanted scriptures to transcend the dead, accomplishing the salvation of his own soul.

It turns out that 40 years ago, in July 1993, when the ascetic was still a young man, his name was Xuemin Zhang. He got into a fight with Xiaojun Qiu and Dajun Qiu, resulting in the death of Dajun Qiu. In order to escape from the police's pursuit, he took his girlfriend to run away.

On the way to escape, young Xuemin Zhang saw the good and evil of human nature and met animals (gray pigeon, black goat, pigs, wild snake) in trouble for committing the three poisons of "Greed, Anger and Ignorance", especially, he met the elderly Xuemin Zhang whom lives in 2033. The elderly Xuemin Zhang told the young Xuemin Zhang three secular stories he encountered during his 40 years of ascetic practice, which respectively corresponded to the three poisons of human nature: "Greed, Anger and Ignorance". 

The young Xuemin Zhang in the secular world, experienced a baptism of the soul, awakened and found the direction of his own life.

So, young Xuemin Zhang bid farewell to his girlfriend on a boat on the river, and embarked on a long path of ascetic practice. He hope that his practice just like the Legendary blue peacock which can eliminate the three poisons of "Greed, Anger and Ignorance", also can eliminate the three poisons of "Greed, Anger and Ignorance" in his body, thus achieve the great wisdom of Bodhisattva as vast and free as the sea.

FILMMAKER  :   

HONGQUAN TIAN，Independent Film Scriptwriter, Film Director, and Film Editor.
Graduated with a major in film and television, later pursued courses in film aesthetic theory and practical skills related to film screenwriting and directing, and participated in the filming of multiple films.
Independently produced the film "BLUE PEACOCK" and several short films；and also have written multiple feature film scripts.

Director Statement :   

All conflicts and contradictions in this world—from major ones like national struggles, territorial disputes, and ethnic or religious conflicts to minor ones such as family quarrels, romantic rifts, and other disputes over interests—ultimately stem from the inherent malice in human hearts, rooted in the three poisons: greed, hatred, and delusion. If every individual could attain enlightenment, clearly perceive the truth beneath these complex appearances, and actively strive to transform themselves, correct the weaknesses of their hearts, greet others with a smile, and treat people with tolerance, life would be far more beautiful and peaceful.

BITTEN BY THE DOG

Zhou Xin came to the town to meet his online friend ‘Little Sun’. He stayed at his uncle's place there and found a job in a breakfast store. In the store, Zhou Xin got to know Zhao, who was involved in the underworld, and they became friends. Several days later, ‘Little Sun’ confessed to him that she actually had a boyfriend who was in prison and would be released in one month. Zhou Xin broke up with her. Zhou Xin and Zhao planned together and took revenge on ‘Little Sun’. One morning, two killers came into the breakfast store. They were waiting for Zhao to arrive and then kill him. Since Zhao didn't show up, the killers left. Zhou Xin rushed to Zhao's home and told him about this. He just lay on the bed quietly, waiting for his fate to be decided. Finally, Zhou Xin left this sad place.

FILMMAKER  :   

Qian Banwen is an independent film director and screenwriter. After losing his job, he used his severance pay, provident fund, and crowdfunding money to shoot his first feature film, which he also wrote and directed, titled "Tomorrow Will Be Better."

GODZILLA VISITS MINNEAPOLIS!

Everyone is heard of the famous city of Minneapolis. Godzilla decides to go there and find out firsthand what all the talk is all about. Pay close attention and you just might notice what is the true color of Mary Tyler Moore’s beret. And no, not raspberry.

FILMMAKER  :   

STEVE CHAPPELL is an illustrator, musician, sculptor, and filmmaker. He has authored and drawn graphic novels(Stark Plug Book, Understanding Ed Gein), designed books(Comics In Wisconsin), illustrated book covers(Goodbye Wisconsin, Under A Lucky Star), album covers and cds (We Duet Right, Nothing But My Name), and carved one store sign (The Froth House). He has made many films and won awards for TRILOGY OF TEAR! (Best Animated Short at MIDWEST WEIRDFEST 2020), and ED GEIN INTERVIEW (Best Animated Film at MLC Awards 2021). Chappell also built a two ton concrete cat tomb, and most recently completed a nearly three-foot Muffler Man statue... but, that is another story for another day.
